This is a two-way version of the traditional X10 lamp module. This module has a "soft-start" feature. When an X10 signal is sent, the module will fade the lamp up from the off setting. Traditional lamp modules have always come on at full bright. The fade up and down takes about two seconds. The second new feature is that the new module remembers it's last dimmed setting. When an X10 "on" signal is now sent or when the lamp is turned on manually, the module will fade up the lamp to the point when it was last dimmed. With the new two-way feature, computer interfaces that can generate "Status Request", will receive an X10 signal back from the lamp module indicating it's status, ON or OFF. If the unit is on, but dimmed to some level, the two-way lamp module will only report back that it is ON, (it will not report back the dim level.) The LM14A is able to receive and react to X10 signals at 50 mV, whereas normal X10 modules need 100 mV of signal strength.
